Dedication and skill have led to great success for George
Williams and Rocher and along for the ride at every step inside the world's
great equine arenas has been Vellus putting the finishing touch on great
performances.
We are very proud of George Williams and Rocher's accomplishments. A dream come
true for George Williams and owners, Chuck & Joann Smith of Gypsy Woods Farm. An
excellent team indeed, George and Rocher moved up to 16th on the FEI-BCM
Dressage Rider Rankings and placing 6th in the World Cup Final, the future looks
bright.
We look forward to seeing more excitement at Gypsy Woods Farm as the World Class
talent of Williams and the strength and carriage of Rocher continue to produce
the Power-to-Win. Congratulations Chuck, Joann, George and Rocher! We are
thrilled to be a part of your success.
Press Release - Chuck and Joann Smith - February 17, 2004
Rocher has developed some tendonitis, unfortunately so far it is not responding
as well to traditional treatment as we had hoped. While we have been given two
options we feel at this point in time that in the best interest of this
wonderful horse, we may have to withdraw her from the selection process for the
2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Our final decision will be based on the simple
fact that we don't want to do anything that puts Rocher at greater risk of
injury nor do we want to hinder her full recovery.
We know that the news of her tendonitis will disappoint Rocher's many fans;
however it is our hope and expectation that given the proper time and treatment,
Rocher will be back in international competition in the future.
George Williams on Rocher:
I have to say that while it is a disappointment, I can't help but feel blessed
to be associated with such a wonderful horse. The journey with Rocher has been
so much fun and so exhilarating that reaching the goal of an Olympics has become
secondary. The support of the Smiths' and Rocher's fans has been overwhelming.
